Totem Handcraft Jewellery is a small Cape Town based business that sells colourful, beaded earrings using the brick stitch style. The technique has been used by Native Americans and in Africa, the Middle East and South America, although it's exact origin is unknown.
The brand
The brand is funky, fun and stylish and plays on the theme of Native American culture, however with an African twist.
The repurposed beads are irregular and therefore add an inorganic feel to the style, expressing the idea of 'beautiful imperfection'. I created the logo, all advertising, photography and marketing materials for the products, as well as designed the market stand (with some help ;)
